History Babi Yar Massacre
Friends, you all must have heard about the Second World War which started from 1939 to 1945. In the midst of this war, many such incidents took place about which people are not aware till date or it is as if the later generations have forgotten these incidents. But let us tell you that there are some accidents which no matter how old they become, their wounds remain green. One such holocaust took place on 29 September 30, 1941, in Babi Yar Robin near Kiev, Ukraine.
The Soviets had sent thousands of ethnic Germans to Kazakhstan and Hitler and Himmler were planning to send the Jews of Germany and Europe to the East and sending them there meant their painful and horrifying death. Then by the last week of September 1941, the Nazis had reached a different level of murder. From 16 to 30 September, soldiers killed a total of 35 thousand 782 Jews. Civilians from the cities of Nicholas and Kherson in South Ukraine were also killed.
That too in a painful way. Further in Vineet area, the 45th River Police Battalion, under the command of Frederick Jacklin, shot more than 10 thousand Jews on the 19th. After which the Germans captured Kiev. Then on September 22, all the Jewish men are arrested by the Germans. After which they are forced to do many tasks. Most of these Jews were young, but there were some old people also.
Either Jews had to come under German occupation and those who did not come under occupation left Ukraine. Otherwise he joined the Red Army soldiers. Commander Verma even ordered that these Jewish civilians should be killed by throwing them in the city’s revenue drain. This is so terrible to think about, then imagine what would have happened to the people with whom this incident would have happened. It starts from 24th September. Where the Soviet forces had already set the time by planting explosives and themselves ran away from there.
After which Jews were killed by these bombs. Just two days after the September 24 incident, on September 26, Kurt Overhead, Frederick, Jacqueline hold a meeting with the Standard Fuel and Police leaders, as well as the Commander Order, in which they vow to avenge the explosives and the entire Jewish community of Kiev.
Took the decision to end it. For this task, these 700 Group A soldiers were assigned as a sub-unit of the Soldier Commando Force and the 45th Battalion of the German Police for firing and the soldiers of the 330th Battalion of the German Police for the siege outside. After which the question now arises that how did so many Jews come to Babi Yaar? The answer to this is deception.
The Germans pasted more than 200 posters in the city on September 26, 1941, stating that all Jews in and around Kiev city would have to appear at the corner of Nicobar and Doctory Sikhya streets on Monday, September 29. They were also asked to bring their documents, money, warm clothes, valuables etc.
and any Jew who would not follow this order or go to another place would be directly shot. If any citizen entered the houses abandoned by the Jews or took possession of the things inside them, they would be shot. After this order, one last hope arose in Jewish’s mind that maybe they would be called together and settled again. But little did they know that a big betrayal was going to happen to them. On the morning of September 29, more than 30,000 people, including both Jews and non-Jews, marched down Mellony Street towards the railway station.
All of them were moving towards a long journey. Then on the way to the station the Germans stop them and tell them that the fast train has already left. In this way, these people start collecting all the Jews coming and going. Two sisters, Frida and young Lev were also going towards Turgenev Street when they met some people shouting that they would kill us, but still they were moving forward with a hope.
Ukrainian engineer Father Hero recalled that thousands of people, mostly young, some old and many children, were moving forward with their luggage, some shouting, some running, but all with their families. Together they were moving forward on their own path. A truck driver named Hopper tells that he saw that Jewish men, women and children were all taken by the Germans to different places where one after the other they had to leave their belongings.
Even coats, shoes, outerwear as well as under wear had to be left behind. A separate place was also made to keep their valuables and if anyone refused to do so, they were either pushed into the rear or shot. The Jewish crowd was so large that for a long time people did not realize what was happening and by the time they heard the girls’ voices, it was too late because there was no chance of escape left. Soldiers were standing around him from everywhere. In this way, now Jews are called in groups of 10 and they are shot by the soldiers.
The truck driver also tells that after being completely naked, he was taken to the rewind, which was 100 meters long, 30 meters wide and 15 meters deep. When the police reached down in Rewind to shoot, there were only one or two dead bodies. Then the Jews came down and the police shot them in the neck, forming layers of their bodies as the police moved upwards. Let us tell you that on the other side, seven or more Germans caught two young Jewish women and took them away from the customs and took them to the event place.
After which they started doing it one by one and when these soldiers were satisfied, they were pushed into the pits and their bodies were also shot in such a way that no evidence was left. Dina, a 30-year-old girl, tells that she and her family had already realized what was going to happen. Then her mother told Dina to hide because she did not look like a Jew. After which she also takes the decision to run away. However, the Germans capture him and because he does not resemble a Jew, he is ordered to wait until the evening until everything is finished.
While Tina was waiting, her parents and sisters were taken to shoot in front of her. Later, by the end of September 29, the Germans think that Tina has seen enough here, after which they decide to kill her too. But by the time it got dark, she and some people stood at the edge of the rewind and as soon as the Germans started shooting, she jumped into the rewind and pretended that she was dead. Then she remained lying among the dead bodies for a few hours and then she crawled out in the darkness. According to him, about 22 thousand murders took place that day and about 12 thousand people were killed the next day.
Then on the evening of 23 September, all the edges of the rewind were covered with dynamite. According to the report of Jacqueline’s officer, a total of 33 thousand 171 people were killed in Babi Yar. However, on 29 and 30 September 1941 alone, approximately 33 thousand 771 Jews were shot. The limit of barbarity was crossed when the injured victims were also buried alive along with these bodies. This was only the beginning. In the months that followed, thousands of people were captured, brought to Babi Yar and shot.
This continued until the Nazis never evacuated the city. Apart from these, thousands of Ukrainians were also murdered in the campaign, including Ukrainian porn and activist Olena Teli or her husband. In 1941, Ukrainian writer Ivan Rose, his sister and other colleagues were also murdered. In 1943, when some journalists went there to interview the survivors, it was reported that Bilkis, one of the survivors, had told that in the middle of August he had gathered a party of Hundred Soviet Prisoners of War i.e. POWs.
On August 19, orders were given to remove all the dead bodies from there and dispose of them, after which a pyre was built for the last rites. A layer of wood and then a layer of dead bodies were deposited on top of these stones. This was done until the pyre was as high as a two-storey house and around 1500 bodies were burnt each time. It took two nights and a day for each pyre to burn completely. This continued for about 40 days.
Later many journalists came here and everyone condemned this Holocaust according to their own. In 2006, Yadav and other Jewish organizations also started some programs to identify and name Babi’s victims, of which only 10% have been identified so far. Efforts are still going on to identify the rest. Friends, this was some amazing information about Bhabhi Holocaust.
